A Magical Summer Doesn’t Mean Life Stops
All summer, I’ve been encouraging you to create a little more magic in your life.
To be intentional. To notice what’s already good. To think about the person you’re becoming. To create memories. To enjoy the season you’re in.
But here’s the thing…
Life didn’t stop just because we decided to have a magical summer.
Work still needed to get done. There were deadlines and responsibilities. There were hard days and unexpected challenges. There were probably mornings when your calendar looked a lot less like “summer magic” and a lot more like… well, real life.
Mine did too.
And I’ve been thinking about that lately because, while I’ve been intentionally creating a summer I love, I’ve also been working.
I’ve been writing and coaching and creating. I’ve been thinking about what’s next. I’ve been welcoming new people into this Thought Drop community. And behind the scenes, I’ve been preparing for a webinar I’m teaching next week.
And you know what?
I don’t think those two things are in conflict.
Maybe part of creating a magical life is letting go of the idea that we have to choose.
We can play hard and work hard.
We can take the trip and come home excited about the work waiting for us.
We can sit by the pool with a book one afternoon and spend the next morning completely absorbed in something we’re creating.
We can rest without guilt and work with purpose.
The magic isn’t necessarily in escaping our ordinary lives.
Maybe the magic is in creating an ordinary life we don’t constantly need to escape from.
That’s been one of the bigger lessons for me this summer.
And it brings me to something a little different for today’s Thought Drop.
I don’t usually use this space to promote my workshops or programs. I want Thought Drop Thursday to be something you look forward to opening because there’s an idea inside that makes you stop, think, or see something differently.
But I also know that many of you are new here. And the work I’m doing next week is so connected to what we’ve been exploring together this summer that it felt strange not to invite you.
On Tuesday, August 25, I’m teaching a free webinar, Better Thinking. Better Leadership. Better Results.
We’ll talk about how our thinking influences the way we lead, the decisions we make, the conversations we have, and ultimately the results we create.
Because whether we’re trying to build a business, lead a team, change a relationship, become more confident, or simply create a little more magic in our lives… so much begins with how we think.
If that sounds like a conversation you’d like to be part of, I’d love to have you join me.
And then, when the work is done?
Go do something that feels like summer.
We still have a little magic left to make.
Until Next Thursday,
Liz
